AMAR believes that sustainable reform must be approached from two directions - from the top, through partnership with the government, and from the bottom through partnership with the community. We form close relationships with local and national governments, UN agencies and other international institutions and companies.

WHY PARTNER WITH AMAR?
AMAR helps some of the poorest and most vulnerable people in the world. However, unlike the majority of other international charities, almost all our work is carried out by local people, using local resources. It means that we not only use money more efficiently, but build capacity and support the economy where it's needed most - on the ground.
There are just 12 full time staff members in the London office, supporting over 2,000 staff in Iraq and Lebanon. This economy scale means 88p of every pound donated to us goes directly to helping many hundreds of thousands of people in the Middle East. The other 12p is spent on administration and raising the next pound.
AMAR's local staff are able to work with community leaders and develop activities that are culturally sensitive and relevant to community needs. This means we can quickly gain widespread approval and acceptance.
AMAR works closely with national and local governments, ensuring that the authorities have a stake from the very start. This helps enhance the provision and delivery of basic services, and paves the way for the eventual transfer of these services to government management and ownership.
AMAR targets all those in need, but focuses particularly on women and children. Often they are the most deserving and hardest to reach. We work to ensure that they become both beneficiaries and service deliverers, contributing towards female empowerment at a local level.
AMAR believes a healthy and educated population is better equipped to develop economically and socially over the long term, in turn reducing dependence on international aid and assistance.
